BOOK RESEARCH - MARK MAKING AND DRAWING FLUIDITY

WOMEN OF ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM, YALE UNIVERSITY PRESS.

I have looked at abstract art and especially abstract expressionist art through different projects at CSM, and I saw that there was a book dedicated to female abstract expressionist artists I thought it would be a good area to look at with my themes of fluidity and the feminine. The connection to the movement is to do with their fluid painterly approach, where they don't paint realistic things but express emotions through the way they make their marks and the colours, composition and energy.

I have been inspired by abstract expressionism in my sketchbooks where I have taken an expressive energetic approach to my drawings and developing my ideas. What I gained most from the images below was:

INTENSITY
